Raspberry PI 2 unboxing |
Finally I just received Raspberry PI 2. I bought it from Tokopedia - trusted online shop in Indonesia. As you know, Raspberry PI is now on sale for $35 USD. But I must pay ~ $45.5 USD or about Rp 625.000 (include shipment to my home of course). A little bit expensive due to shipping cost & import tax. Luckily I just need to pay ~ $38 USD. Thanks to Doni Gagarin for letting me use his Iphone 6S-plus to get a Tokopedia's voucher =). What a nice deal with $38 USD, isn't it?
There are four USB ports, a HDMI connector, a Fast ethernet port, a 3.5mm audio jack, a camera slot, 40 male header GPIO PIN, and a microSD slot. This board is very compact. Take a look when it compare with Arduino Uno R3, Raspberry PI 2 is just a little bit bigger.

Now this is the time to powering up the Raspberry PI 2:)
I just search through several websites, to powering it up I need to download an image of Raspbery OS and install it to microSD. I try to set up with Raspbian OS. At this time there are 2 choices : Raspbian Jessie and Raspbian Wheezy. Not sure what is the differences, I choose Jessie. The size of Jessie OS image is approximately 1.24GB. Do you wanna know why I choose Jessie ? heheheh
Installing Raspbian Jessie Operating System Image using Windows
Here are the steps to set up the Jessie OS :
1. Extract the Jessie OS image zip file, the extracted image is approximately 2GB
2. Insert the microSD to PC.
3. Download Win32DiskImager and open this tool.
4. Select the correct drive letter of the SD card. Please don't choose the wrong drive letter. I think you already know what will happen if you choose the wrong drive letter .
5. Select the Jessie OS image file.
6. Click write and wait for a while until the process finished.
7. Now close the Win32DiskImager application and safely remove the microSD. Insert it into Raspberry microSD slot.
8. Time to power up the Raspberry
You can see the yellow LED is blinking. Now try to connect Raspberry PI with HDMI monitor. This is the first screenshot from Raspbian Jessie OS. Cool !!!
